GATE institute "Big Data for Smart Society"" is an autonomous research institute, established in 2019 in Sofia, Bulgaria as a joint initiative between Sofia University Bulgaria, Chalmers University of Technology and Chalmers Industrial Technology, Sweden. Its mission is to accelerate the Big Data and Artificial Intelligence research, innovation and education in collaboration with government, industry and society as a whole.
GATE is focused on developing research capacity in 4 Data Science areas:

  • Big Data Management
  • Big Data Analytics
  • Big Data Insight
  • Software Engineering for Big Data and AI

PR Expert

Responsibilities

  • Carries out the information and communication activities of the Institute, according to the good practices and the regulatory requirements in the field of public communications and advertising;
  • Develops the Institute’s communication strategy and year communication plan and delivers progress reports;
  • Plans and coordinates the communication and dissemination activities within the different GATE projects;
  • Performs continuous media monitoring and maintains archive of video and photo materials, published / broadcasted material in print, electronic or internet-based media or on social networks;
  • Publicizes information for the Institute in the most appropriate way, in order to promote it to the general public at national and international level, as well as to promote the EU's contribution;
  • Elaborates, edits and publishes an electronic newsletter presenting Institute’s activities;
  • Regularly updates the contents of the Institute’s website;
  • Prepares and disseminates, press releases, photographs and other information materials;
  • Plans, organizes and coordinates public events for the Institute, in conjunction with partnering organizations;
  • Organizes and coordinates the public appearances of GATE’s staff and partners;
  • Maintains active media relations.

Skills, experience and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in journalism, PR or a related field;
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience;
  • Experience in devising and carrying out public relations strategies and plans, marketing communications, media planning;
  • Experience in liaising with advertising and creative agencies and media;
  • Excellent understanding of modern branding and marketing concepts, online media and advertising;
  • Solid oral/written communication, presentation and networking skills;
  • Ability to work proactively, both independently and as part of a team with professionals from various disciplines;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, and a strong motivation to deliver results;
  • Fluent English is a must.

Stages of the contest

  1. The Selection Committee reviews the documents, submitted by the candidates and selects those meeting the requirements of the job, as described in the job profile.
  2. Interviews will be held online with the selected applicants between the 24th and 28th of April.
  3. The successful candidate will be notified in writing.
  4. The successful candidate will be offered a labor contract.
